“Then God said: Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the seas, the birds of the air, the tame animals, all the wild animals, and all the creatures that crawl on the earth. God created making in his image,” Genesis 1:26-27
Lately, it’s hit me how busy life is. I have inherited a gene that keeps me constantly running. If there’s an open two hours on a Tuesday night, I will fill it with someone, some thing. I rarely just sit and relax.
I was recently having a conversation about how I don’t understand how so many people seem to have all this time for Netflix, because I never do!
And no, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. But there is a problem with constantly being on the go and not being still.
I know God works through all things, but when you run a tight, chaotic schedule, I imagine He can’t as easily guide my path, when it’s all pre-determined in my calendar.
As I reflect on it this morning, I have two thoughts.
First, I have to say, I recently have had the obsession that human “beings” sounds the exact same as human “beans”. And that makes me laugh.
But second, and more thought-provoking, we are human BE-ings. Not human DO-ings.
I definitely act like I’m a human do-ing. I run around from one thing to the next, filling my days with nonstop busyness.
And although, many of those things are good, I know I need to slow down and just BE.
BE open to what God might be speaking to me throughout the day.
BE more attentive to the people around me.
BE aware of God’s beauty and work.
BE more selfless, less task-centered.
BE joyful in the mundane
BE reminded that each thing I do should give glory to God
BE focused on my purpose here
BE at peace, and in union with my Creator.
Today, sisters, let’s try to take a deep breath, and just be still. This time of year is always crazy, so try to slow it down a little, and if you can, carve out some time this week to yourself and just BE with God. We can do it! I mean, BE it! ;)
Thank you all for reading & may God bless your beautiful hearts!
